About this place
Sentoku’s juujuu-yaki is memorable for the way its tangy sauce goes with rice. Visitors describe meat and vegetables such as cabbage served sizzling on a hot plate, coated in a sauce that makes the rice hard to resist. Some compare the tang to ponzu, while others call it light and dressing-like; either way, the seasoning is not simply rich and heavy. The stamina version is reported to come topped with a raw egg, adding a mellow note to the sauce’s acidity. Diners also mention adding the table-side spice as they eat, adjusting the heat and flavour with a shake or two.
There are options for different appetites and preferences. The menu includes juujuu-yaki with rice, versions made with pork or beef, a stamina version and a vegetable version. One diner who ordered the beef stamina juujuu-yaki with rice described a substantial dish of beef and egg yolk over cabbage. Some diners favour the pork stamina version, while others suggest beef stamina for a richer choice. The vegetable juujuu-yaki with rice is another option if you would rather go without meat.
You can also make gyoza or noodles the focus, with a jumbo gyoza rice set served with 5 pieces. One diner described the gyoza as large and generously filled; they are also available individually. The menu lists Chinese noodles at 800 yen, miso Chinese noodles and bamboo-shoot noodles at 950 yen each, and chashu noodles at 1,100 yen. Choose whether to keep the meal centred on juujuu-yaki or round it out with gyoza or noodles.
The drinks list includes medium-bottle beer and sake, each listed at 700 yen. Sentoku is a set-meal restaurant in Togoshi 3-chome. It is open from 18 until late, at 0, from Wednesday and Friday through Tuesday; Thursday is listed as its regular closing day. Payment is cash only, and reservations are not accepted.
